Know when AI recommends you. And when it doesn't.
Citewise AI asks ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude the questions your buyers ask, then shows whether your brand is mentioned, how you rank against competitors, and which sources the answers cite.
For most freelancers, these are the strongest options:
- YourBrand: simple invoicing and automatic expense categories, with a free tier for solo users.
- Competitor A: deeper reporting, but pricier once you add payroll.
- Competitor B: good for very small volumes.
Illustrative example
The shift
Your buyers stopped searching. They're asking.
More and more product research starts with a question to an AI assistant. The answer names a few brands, cites a few sources, and the buyer moves on. If you're not in that answer, you're not on the list.
One answer, not ten links
Assistants summarise a market in a paragraph. Being the second name mentioned matters more than ranking ninth on a results page.
Recommendations come with sources
Answers lean on specific review sites, forums and articles. Knowing which ones tells you where your reputation is being formed.
Invisible in your analytics
Web analytics can't tell you how often an assistant recommends you or a competitor. You need to ask, consistently, and measure.
How it works

Visibility score
One number for how often AI mentions you.
Your visibility score is the share of tracked answers that mention your brand. Watch it move run by run, per engine and per prompt.
- Mention rate: how often you appear, overall and by engine
- Average position: where you sit among the brands named
- Citation rate: how often your own site is used as a source
Share of voice
See exactly where competitors win.
For every prompt and engine, see who was mentioned and in what order. Find the questions where a competitor is recommended and you're missing.
- Head-to-head share of voice across all tracked brands
- Prompt-by-prompt results with the full answer text
- Brand mentions highlighted so you can read the context
| Prompt | You | Rank | Comp. A | Comp. B |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Best invoicing app for freelancers | ✓ | 1 | ✓ | – |

Citation sources
Learn which sources shape the answers.
Engines with web search cite the pages they relied on. Citewise AI ranks those domains, so you know which reviews, communities and publications influence recommendations in your market.
- Top cited domains per run, with your own site highlighted
- Every citation link stored with the answer
- Export everything to CSV for your own analysis

Our standard
Real answers. Honest numbers.
- Every check is a live call to the provider's official API. We never simulate or edit answers.
- Your prompts are sent exactly as written, with no hidden instructions to steer the answer.
- We don't sell rankings or promise placement. We measure, so you can improve with evidence.
- Read our methodology, how we keep data safe on the security page, and who we are.
Questions, answered

What does Citewise AI actually measure?
For every prompt you track, we ask each AI engine you choose and record the full answer. We then measure whether your brand is mentioned, its position relative to the competitors you list, whether your website is cited as a source, and which other domains are cited. Those checks roll up into your visibility score, share of voice and trends.
Are these real AI answers?
Yes. Every check calls the provider's official API (OpenAI, Google, Perplexity, Anthropic) with web search enabled and stores the answer exactly as returned. We never invent or edit results. API answers can differ from what a signed-in user sees in the consumer apps, which personalise responses, so we show you the raw answer text for every check. See our methodology.
How do credits work?
One credit runs one prompt on one engine. Tracking 10 prompts on 4 engines costs 40 credits per run. Every account gets 25 free credits each month, and you can buy one-time credit packs from $29. Packs never renew automatically and are valid for 12 months. Failed checks are refunded to your balance automatically.
Can Citewise AI get my brand recommended by AI?
No tool can guarantee that, and we don't claim to. Citewise AI measures where you stand and shows which sources the engines rely on, so you can make informed improvements to your content and presence and see whether they move the numbers.
Do I need a subscription?
No. Citewise AI runs on credits. Use the free monthly credits, or buy a pack when you need more. Nothing renews automatically.
